No Official Car for Civil Servant for Homecoming

"I suggest you (civil servants) to use public transport than car for homecoming

The rules of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), which prohibits civil servants using official car during homecoming season, appreciated by Jakarta Provincial Government. To prevent unwanted things, Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama instructs Jakarta officials to use public transports, such as train.

"I suggest you (civil servants) to use public transport than car for homecoming," asserted Basuki, at City Hall, Thursday (7/17).

If the train ticket is sold out, he stated, another solution is by renting a vehicle for homecoming. Moreover, there are many rental car services in Jakarta. "Just rent the car," he exclaimed while laughing.

As for the information, Jakarta Transportation Department predicts the amount of homecomers use the car will increase to 21 percent this year.

Previously, Head of Financial Management Body (BPKD, Endang Widjajanti, Jakarta civil servants are prohibited to use official car for homecoming. Moreover, fund for official car maintenance is taken from the City Budget (APBD).

"Official car maintenance is the responsibility of Jakarta government, that means it is dedicated to department or working," she told.

Hence, Head of Jakarta Regional Employment Agency (BKD), I Made Karmayoga will give sanction to civil servant if they use official car for homecoming. This is because it is a state facility and may not be used for private purposes. 

"We will cast sanction to them in accordance with Government Regulation No. 53/2010 on Discipline of Civil Servant. The sanction itself is in form of verbal until written reprimand. Certainly, we'll see the case first,"
